About the Stella Blues Open Mic Night - the short story.

Seth Adam, a prominent singer/songwriter from the New Haven area began the Stella Blues Open Mic Night in November 2009. With the help of drummer Mike Knobloch and bassist/guitarist/singer Rob Aceto, the goal from day one was to promote a night of live original music and provide a forum for aspiring performing songwriters of all levesl of ability.

"Mike and I wanted to show our support for the original bands and/or singer-songwriters in this area by having an open mic night that supports them. There is a lot of great original music around here that doesn't always get heard. We want to change that. This is a night where you can hang out in a non-pretentious atmosphere, enjoy some cheap drinks, and take in the songs of some great local artists," explains Adam. "I think it's a true 'destination night.'"

And for those artists that are looking for a venue to perform at in New Haven, the open mic series incorporates a "featured performer" slot. Each Tuesday night at 10:00pm, a local or regional artist takes the stage to do what they do best; perform music. Past performers include Michael Greenberg, The Darian Cunning Trio, Soulfire, Brian Dolzani, and New Haven favorite Frank Critelli.

For our beloved open mic night audience, welcome to Stella Blues! Come on in and enjoy the cozy, non-pretentious atmosphere. The bar features a wide variety of micro-brews, as well as your regular favorites. There's never a cover, open mic night included. Check out some new music instead of the same old, hacked-up covers. And of course, enjoy the $3.00 Busch cans and $3.00 Soco shots!
